I’ve made some progress on my 1940s Star Trek dress. I still need to do some finishing touches, but the major parts are done. (The skirt, sleeves, and bodice bottom need to be hemmed, the zippers need finishing, and I need to make piping for the neckline. I’d like to fuss a bit with the front gathers as well).
Obviously it will need a good ironing once it’s done!
I am also trying to decide whether to buy official TNG pips or to use these fancy buttons I have from my stash.
You can read about Part 1 here.
It looks great so far! The buttons are beautiful! I am torn whether I would like the buttons or pips better but I get a little OCD about these things. It would have never occurred to me to do a 1940s/Star Trek mashup.
Thank you Cindy! I’m still deciding but luckily that is a small detail that can be easily swapped out if I change my mind.
Looking good! The peplum on the top is really cute.
Thanks Kim! The peplum is what made me decide to make this a 2-piece dress instead of a 1-piece.
Brava! Brava! I have the same blouse pattern languishing on my shelves and omg if I am not so excited to see how this turns out!
Thanks Holly! It is a great pattern and the variations make it quite versatile.
I absolutely love this! The whole outfit is beautiful and also makes my geek heart very happy. I also love your commentary on the pattern, it has made me add this pattern to my list!
Thank you Dalbeth! I’m glad you might find my comments on the pattern useful!
